Reverend Betty Bryant Ervin

Reverend Betty Bryant Ervin is the fifth child of nine children born to the late Mr. Joe Luther Bryant, Sr. and the late Mrs. Hester Drayton Bryant in Sanipit Section of Georgetown County, South Carolina.

Reverend Ervin received her early education from the Georgetown County Public School System. She received a Diploma from Denmark Technical College of Denmark, South Carolina and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology with a minor in Religious Education with honors from Paul Quinn College of Dallas, Texas, the only African Methodist Episcopal Church School West of the Mississippi. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Zeta Chapter, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc and is a contributor to the Silent Samaritan scholarship fund, which aides in the life of women holistic health.

Reverend Ervin is an ordained Itinerant Elder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and was ordained by Bishop John Richard Bryant. She is serving as First Lady of the Tyler District of the North Texas Conference of the Tenth Episcopal District A.M.E. Church. Additionally, she served as pastor of Sandy Point A.M.E. Church, Dime Box, Texas, while appointed to the West Texas Conference, and has served as Supply Pastor of Oliver Chapel A.M.E. Church, Tyler, Texas.

Reverend Ervin is the wife of Reverend W. C. Ervin, III who is the Presiding Elder of the Tyler District of the North Texas Conference of the A.M.E. Church. They will celebrate their 31st  wedding anniversary this August 25, 2006. They are blessed to be the proud parents of Luisa Batrice Ervin Cook, Alicia JoLinda Ervin and William Michael Ervin. God has so blessed them to be the proud grandparents of Eli-Jah Jamal Ervin, Jeruel Urijah Cook, Zavaun Sylvester Foley, Schilica Ammel Cook, Meleke Beverly, Imani Rankin and Michael Lee Ervin. Reverend Ervin and her husband have served together as a ministerial team for the past 26 years.
