The Convention opened at 10:00 A. M. with Sis. La Tasha R. Till as the Worship Leader.

 

Praise and Worship Service was given by Bethel Youth Choir the Choir gave beautiful renditions of “Because of Who You Are” and “Give Him the Glory”

 

Call to Worship was given by lady Ruby Coleman   “Words for the Journey”

 

Song of Celebration   “This is the Day” was led by Licentiate La Tasha R. Till

 

Invocation was done Lady Jalexis Davis

 

Lady Latoria Scott recited a beautiful version of “The Power of Prayer” for Ministry of

Poetry

 

Benevolent Ministry was initiated by Exhorter Torrey Denson Adults were asked to give $5.00 and youth what ever they could.  Music for the offering: “Jesus Is Real”

 

The Puppet Ministry of St. Luke AME Church received a standing ovation for their presentation of “How To Praise the Lord” The Puppeteer Staff  exhibited mastery of the piano, drums, soloists, complete

with Master of the Hour.  They let the spirit have its way in Hallelujah rendition of the ”The Lord’s

Been Good to me”

 

Ministry of Music:  Hamilton memorial “Let the High Praise be in My Mouth” and   It’s All

Over Me-

 

The Celebration of Gifts was headed by Exhorters Denzel Cammon, Lady Devon Ferguson

and Bro. Darious Watson.  The team asked for $25.00 while music of “Jesus Lifted Me”

filled the house.  The offering was blessed

 

Bro. Justin Turner introduced the preacher. He used I Timothy 6:11, Standard Version, and

personal knowledge. Ebenezer AME Church Choir of Tyler Texas set the tone for the preach word with soul stirring renditions of: “Hallelujah! He is Wonderful” and “Jesus is My Rock” The speaker: Bro. Mittie Muse, Jr. gave his text from The New Living Bible Hebrews 7:1 and 10: 37 . His subject:

“Am I Ready ?”  Bro. Muse, Jr. questioned himself as well as others;  “Even though I am a

Minister, Am I Ready?, “ As young people are we living on grace alone ?  Or Do we have a

relationship with God ?”  We can’t keep doing the wrong thing and keep getting by.  There

comes  a time when we have to make a choice for Christ to stand for right.  That faith we have

in our parents should be transferred to God for greater rewards.- Don’t let your faith be altered.

He closed with “Are You Ready? ” Trust in God, be decided, and keep on pushing.

 

During the invitation with music in the background: “Lord Prepare Me” Bro. Muse, Jr. implores

us to come as we are.

 

Highlight Ministry:  Lady Jamaia Gilbert

 

Rev. Pritchett has  CDs, DVDs, and tapes in the Foyer. Everyone’s support was solicited.

Annual Family /Friends Service, June 21-25, 2006 , Carnival June 24, 2006.  Every one was

reminded to register.  A trophy would be given to the church with the most in attendance.

Evening Session :  General

Presiding Elder Ervin III expressed his gratitude for the crowd today. We should utilize the

Resources we have.  Let them have a chance.  He gave a brief history of the reason why we are

called Church School.   Some years ago, a few churches stepped outside of the box and decided

to consider dates other than Sunday to have SUNDAY School .

The District Superintendent, Bro. Will Fair to facilitate the evening session.  Bro Fair requested

that everything be decent and in order.  He expressed appreciation for organization of the

Convention.

 

Reports:

 Ages 2-4:  Shelia Thomas Hamilton Teacher

 Students made door hangers and said they learned about Jesus

 Ages 5-8:  Cynthia Lamay-The importance of prayer, questions on prayer and color sheets              

Ages 9-12:  Reasons to invite people to church.  What should we do to attract youth to come to church

Representatives from all churches were asked to participate.

Ages 13-17: Jackie Ross-Roy Teacher

The church of today

Let the young people speak

          We are children today

          Church should make an impact

          Money is needed for everything

          Still is a Christian even with a job

We should have the appropriate materials and live appropriately to attract members

Wrap up Session

Sis. Lisa Dale, Superintendent, Bethel expressed appreciation for everyone’s support

She petitioned God’s help for vision to be successful in this Church School Convention.

Also, she expressed gratitude to Presiding Elder for the confidence he had in her .  He

Make you feel you can even when you don’t think you can.  Over 200 youth are here

today.  St Luke will receive the trophy for having the most in attendance.

 

Resolutions were read by the Tyler District Secretary:  Sis. Bennie Sandifer

With the necessary corrections the Resolutions were accepted.

 

Pastors with fifty members or less , Oliver’s Chapel Rev. Rhoades, Pastor had three present.

They were awarded $100.00 by Rev. Ervin

 

Sis. Bertha Davis, Lay President was allowed space to make an appeal for those churches who

had not paid their budgets.  One church of thirty-seven had made a report.  An announcement

Remarks were given by Pastor, Rev. Reginald Houston and First Lady

“Take the lid off the box. Unchain   (with chain in box to demonstrate) the youth and let the

Lord work it out. Stand up for God”

 

Rev. Mark Jackson, Allen Chapel, Athens, Texas announced that he has applications for

Scholarships  available.

 

Rev. Leonard Alford closed the Convention with prayer.
