Virginia Ford - First Lady of Tyler District Welcome to the Official Website of the Tyler District, North Texas Conference, Tenth Episcopal District, of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. This site is administered by The Reverend John Henry Holmes, District Dean, and The Reverend Alton E. Paris The Tyler District is one of two Presiding Elder's districts in the North Texas Conference. The Reverend James W. Ford, is the presiding elder and Sis. Virginia Ford is the First Lady. They comprise one of the greatest presiding elder teams in African Methodism!
Our MissionThe mission of the Tyler District is the same as the mission of the AME Church: "To minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ's liberating gospel through word and deed." The Tyler District prepares both Lay and Clergy to carry out that mission in the local church, carrying out the spirit of the Free African Society out of which the AME Church evolved: that is to seek and save the lost and serve the needy.
